Sharable Content Object Reference Model
(SCORM) is a collection of standards and specifications for
web-based
e-learning. It
defines communications between client side content and a host system called
the run-time environment, which is commonly supported by a
learning management system.
SCORM also defines how content may be packaged into a transferable
ZIP file which it
calls its "Package Interchange Format".
SCORM 2004 introduced a complex idea
called sequencing, which is a set of rules that specifies the order in which
a learner may experience content objects. In simple terms, they constrain a
learner to a fixed set of paths through the training material, permit the
learner to "bookmark" their progress when taking breaks, and assure the
acceptability of test scores achieved by the learner. The standard uses
XML, and it is based
on the results of work done by
AICC,
IMS Global,
IEEE, and
Ariadne.
We have a range
of interactive learning resources for your VLE (Virtual Learning
Environment) such as Moodle, Blackboard, Frog, Fronter, etc. The lessons make use of virtual experiments and
simulations as well as providing real hands-on experiments using our
optional hardware and experiment kits. The package can be installed on
any compatible VLE, such as Moodle, Blackboard, CyberExtension, or Fronter. This allows an institute
to provide access to LJ Create's high-quality materials alongside any
other content also hosted on the system. Local authorities can use the
materials to create a shared VLE resource for consortium members across
a number of institutions. Alternatively, individual schools can use the
package to populate their own VLE.
Packages
feature:
SCORM compliant on-line lessons
Each lesson typically contains:
Theory
presentations
Topic related
practical work or virtual experiments
Assessments
Teacher notes
On-line
workbook
Dynamic lessons that can be
delivered using an interactive whiteboard, LCD Projector, or HDTV
Anytime/anywhere
access via your learning platform
Use for homework or extended
study
Whole class assessment using
optional wireless student response system
Individual
on-line assessments
On-line
student portfolios
Hard copy print-out option to
create paper-based labsheets/lesson guides

Content can be supplied as SCORM compliant packages that can be installed on any
compatible VLE such as Moodle, Frog or Fronter. This allows an institute to
provide access to our high quality materials alongside other
content they host on their own system.
Where required the SCORM packages will include the virtual experiments and
simulations, and the theory presentations and assessments.
Hardware resources are available to support the hands-on practical activities
within a large number of our SCORM learning resources.
